DARC (Digital Archive Research Collective)

The Digital Archive Research Collective is a platform that aims to address the needs of students, faculty, and communities working on archival research at The Graduate Center. Our primary goal is to assist in the creation of digital archives and exhibitions. We also aim to provide resources (in the form of tutorials, best practices, and workshops) on the archival research process itself. We hope to foster community among digital archivists and researchers by promoting projects and facilitating communication across disciplines and institutional settings.

Silvia and I wanted to let you all know that we are working on an online academic commons space to showcase the archives people in our GC are building. Please email us at gc.digitalfellows@gmail.com if you’d like to share your work!!

We are building to one DARC event for the end of the school year so stay tuned.

  • Hi all,

Just sending a brief reminder the next DARC meeting is tomorrow from 2 to 3:30pm in 7414. See you there!

    Best,

    Param

    Hi,

I’m digesting the info from CUNY on the virus and I can’t quite work out the implications for this event do I just thought I’d ask here – is this meeting still happening tomorrow?

    Best,

    Jamie Banks

Thank you for reaching out with that good question.

The DARC meeting will go on as planned tomorrow. Currently, we have fewer than 20 people registered, which is the maximum specified by CUNY as the cutoff number for in-person meetings. Since we are well under that number, we think it’s safe to meet as planned tomorrow in 7414.

There are other ways to participate if you cannot make an in-person meeting. We will be taking minutes and distributing them afterward. And looking forward to the meeting in April, we might consider having it partially or fully remote, depending on how the situation with the Coronavirus develops and CUNY responds. In any case, we will find ways to keep the group conversation going, whether that be in-person or online.

We look forward to seeing you tomorrow!

Thanks for the info and glad it’s going forward! I won’t be there, simply because the rest of my day at the GC has been canceled and it’s a long trip, but I look forward to the notes and to engaging more goimg foreword – this is very relevant and exciting work for me, though new.
