    The WPI Interactive Media & Game Development (IMGD) Program (http://imgd.wpi.edu/) seeks to hire a tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant Professor level to start July 1, 2015. Candidates should hold a terminal degree at the time of appointment in any related discipline and should have a research focus in Serious Games.

    WPI is very well positioned for the development of Serious Games in education through our Learning Sciences & Technologies Program (http://www.wpi.edu/academics/lst.html), and in health-related areas through our multi-university Healthcare Delivery Institute (http://www.wpi.edu/research/hdi.html). We welcome candidates with interests in these and other Serious Games areas. Successful candidates will have a clear plan to establish a research program within IMGD, seek external research funding, and participate in teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Exceptional candidates may be hired at the Associate or Full Professor level .

    Established in 2005, the IMGD Program is a collaborative venture between the Computer Science and the Humanities & Arts Departments, combining the technical and artistic aspects of game development in a balanced approach that is bound together by the importance of design. The 12 core and 9 additional affiliated IMGD faculty members bring diverse skills and experience to the teaching and scholarship of all things interactive. The IMGD Program enjoys strong support from the university and has state-of-the-art space and equipment for designing, creating, and evaluating next-generation interactive experiences.

      Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Digital Media (Games)

      School of Literature, Media, and Communication

      The School of Literature, Media, and Communication (LMC) at the Georgia
      Institute of Technology (Atlanta, GA) seeks applicants to fill a
      tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor (entry level) in
      the area of games, effective August 2015.

      Required qualifications: The successful applicant will have a Ph.D. or
      equivalent doctoral degree in an appropriate discipline (field open) for
      conducting research and teaching in games and related areas; a firm
      theoretical grounding in humanistic methods of media studies common to
      Digital Media; a demonstrated capacity for significant original
      research/creative work in game studies (broadly construed) and/or game
      design; and a clearly defined research program and trajectory.

      Preferred qualifications: Expertise in both the theoretical (game studies)
      and practical (game design) aspects of games would be welcomed, as would
      candidates with an active, visible creative practice in game development.
      The Digital Media program in LMC covers three core areas– Knowledge and
      Creativity, Civic and Public Media, and Arts and Entertainment. The
      position advertised falls into the area of Arts and Entertainment, but
      candidates with expertise in one or more of our other areas of focus would
      be welcomed, as would candidates with expertise in other areas of digital
      media studies, and/or issues of social justice (feminism in particular).
      The potential to secure external research funding is strongly desirable as
      well.

      Teaching: Successful applicants can expect to teach a 2/2 load distributed
      across graduate and undergraduate courses in the Computational Media B.S.
      program (jointly administered by LMC and the School of Interactive
      Computing in the College of Computing), in LMCs M.S. and Ph.D. programs in
      Digital Media, and in the Digital Media emphasis of the M.S. in Human
      Computer Interaction (HCI). The B.S. and M.S. programs provide a
      studio-intensive curriculum that integrates theory and practice. The Ph.D.
      program is largely focused on research, and most doctoral graduates enter
      the academy.

      The School of Literature, Media, and Communication is a multi-disciplinary
      program. It offers B.S. degrees in Literature, Media, and Communication and
      in Computational Media, M.S. degrees in Digital Media and Human Computer
      Interaction, and a Ph.D. in Digital Media. The School includes Writing and
      Communication that encompasses the Institute’s Communication Center, the
      Brittain Postdoctoral Fellowship Program, and Communication Across Tech and
      provides discipline-specific courses for campus-wide audiences. For more
