Hi all! Just sharing this details about this amazing event happening at UC Santa Cruz’s Center for Racial Justice.

Queering the Undocumented Archive: A conversation with Yosimar Reyes and Julio Salgado

Description: A conversation with two undocumented artists who work at the intersection of migrant justice and queer liberation, on how we remember relatives and experiences.

Yosimar Reyes is a nationally-acclaimed poet. Born in Guerrero, Mexico, and raised in Eastside San Jose, Reyes explores the themes of migration and sexuality in his work. The Advocate named Reyes one of “13 LGBT Latinos Changing the World” and Remezcla included Reyes on their list of “10 Up And Coming Latinx Poets You Need To Know.” His first collection of poetry, For Colored Boys Who Speak Softly… was self-published after a collaboration with the legendary Carlos Santana.

Julio Salgado is an undocumented queer artist, activist and lecturer based in Los Angeles, California. He is the co-founder of DreamersAdrift and the Migrant Storytelling Manager for The Center for Cultural Power. His visual art depict key individuals and moments of the DREAM Act and the migrant rights movement and has been displayed at the Oakland Museum, SFMOMA and Smithsonian. Time
