DARC (Digital Archive Research Collective)

The Digital Archive Research Collective is a platform that aims to address the needs of students, faculty, and communities working on the creation of digital archives and exhibitions at the Graduate Center.

Upcoming Library Workshop – Omeka Slideshare (April 28 @ 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm)

  • Have a digital project and think you might want to use Omeka or are you actively using Omeka and want to further enhance your skills, then this event might be for you.

    During this pilot slideshare, we will:

    • Review what a content management systems (CMS).
    • Help distinguish why Omeka is different than WordPress, Drupal and other CMS’s.
    • Things to think about and plan before using Omeka.
    • Compare the different versions of Omeka.
    • Requirements for hosting Omeka.
    • Review an easy way to install Omeka.
    • Discuss metadata (Dublin Core).
    • Add items and upload digital assets.
    • Omeka themes and plugins.
    • And have at least 30 minutes to discuss and share your (potential) projects.

    No prior knowledge of CMS’s or Omeka is required to attend.

    Will email the WebEx meeting link the morning of April 20, so please download the software and test your setup.
