Implementing Storybird (digital storytelling) activity was a ROSE! It was a wonderful experience. Students worked in pairs, collaboratively to create their digital stories, using artwork from illustrators around the world. The activity was conducted over two weeks and the resulting digital picture books were beautiful and diverse and expressed…[Read more]

    Hi Casandra:

I thought the game as played on the website was interesting, because it forced one-to-one choices. I had to make difficult decisions to proceed to the next round of choices. I

With the hand-held cards, I was able to defer some of the hard choices by keeping a second pile to go back to.

I’m not sure which was a more accurate…[Read more]

    Hi Sara and Aankit:

This isn’t a question, but rather a comment about Module 8 Critically Conscious Computing (there was no discussion board and I wasn’t sure if it would confuse people if I posted my comments on the Padlet).

I loved these resources. I downloaded articles and handouts, tinkered with the MadLibs activity on the Civics of…[Read more]

Hi Aankit: I think that might be very helpful. I’m working with a colleague on the artifact design for our ECE 211 class, but she is in a different workshop, and I’m not sure we are going to use Scratch for that artifact (it’s one possibility).

But I really do want to learn how to use Scratch and to dig into the possibilities (and limits). As my…[Read more]

I liked the way the resource was organized and presented, using specific examples to highlight empowering and disempowering aspects of technology.

I was pleasantly surprised by the scope of the project designed by Warrick, who is an Early Childhood Education teacher candidate. It’s a wonderful project for young children, who should be empowered…[Read more]

As an early childhood educator, creating joyful, meaningful learning experiences that integrate computational thinking is really important. However, my research has also focused on democratic classroom practices in early childhood classrooms and on centering the voices and perspectives of young children. We (society, educators, parents) don’t…[Read more]

This is great, Vee. It’s simple, clear, and I love that you included the avatar of yourself in the design.

I think Ruth used Issuu. I checked it out. It’s surprisingly easy to creat a flip book from a pdf file. I was thinking about turning some of my ECE 211 PowerPoints into flip books  they are so fun!

I found this video on YouTube for pivot tables. I found it very easy to follow and then try out the different aspects.

Wow. This was an adventure. I feel a bit like Alice…I’ve spent the day falling down rabbit holes and finding strange new worlds.

I decided to stretch myself by using a new technology. I use PowerPoint and Google Slides all the time, and I am somewhat familiar with Padlet. Miro and Loopy were too modular in their approach to the design process,…[Read more]
