Elin Waring replied to the topic FW: Visit the Transfer Booth at the Teaching & Learning Conference on May 8, 2026
Yes I think a Zoom is going to be much easier to organize. I can’t do May 6, but I’d be interested in hearing from first years about good times. Can you possibly talk to each other and come up with a few suggestions?
Elin

Hi Gina,
Thanks for sharing ideas about potential dates, I will also email you, Lok and Elin to make sure we all get the email. Do you think that an in-person event would be too hard to organize and that we may just be in better shape organizing something on zoom on a day where there aren’t as many required classes? Thanks!Devrim

Hi Elin and all,
Thanks for sharing this event info!
I super appreciate this attention to the first year of teaching experience. Note that most of the sociology first-years are in Stats II meeting from 11:45am to 3pm on Wednesdays, not Tuesdays. We are all in contemporary sociological theory from 11:45am to 1:45pm on Tuesdays, but a lot of…[Read more]

Normally we would meet on May 1 or May 8. I don’t want to do May 1 and May 8 is also crazy (see paragraph 1).…[Read more]

Now it turns out the not only is there an event at the GC this Friday, the Crim workshop is showing a film as part of a joint meeting with the NYU Crim workshop on the 12th.

We just realized that the day we planned for the next teaching workshop is also a sociology colloquium date. We could reschedule for the 12th or we could pick another day of the week.
