CUNY Games Network

Visit our website at http://games.commons.gc.cuny.edu (or by clicking the Visit Blog link on the left).

We connect educators from every campus and discipline at CUNY who are interested in games, simulations, and other forms of interactive teaching. We seek to facilitate the pedagogical uses of both digital and non-digital games, improve student success, and encourage research and scholarship in the developing field of games-based learning.

  • Announcement by Francesco Crocco on 6/2/11

    Hi all,

The Society for Utopian Studies will be holding its annual conference at Penn State–State College from October 20-23. Carlos and I plan to submit proposals on games and utopia. We'd love to have a third (or even fourth) person join us so that we can submit a full panel. Let me know if you're interested in joining us. All you need to do is send me a 100-250 abstract within the next two weeks.

Abstracts can be about anything having to do with the relationship between games/play and utopia. Possible topics might include:

    –game as dystopian/utopian text
    –games/play in utopian texts
    –game-based learning and utopia

FYI, I plan to drive to the conference, so people are welcome to carpool with me.

Again, let me know ASAP if you're interested. Otherwise, Carlos and I will just go ahead and send in our individual abstracts.

    Sincerely,
    Francesco Crocco
