    One of the nice things about going with the kinds of open-source tools that we’re using on the site is that people are continually developing plugins that add new kinds of functionality to the site. I invite you to browse or search through the following plugin/extension sites and to let us know which ones you would like to see us add:

    BbPress plugins

    WordPress plugins

    WPMu Plugins

    MediaWiki extensions

    If you see something you want to add, please reply here and/or add a note to the Requested Features page of the wiki.

    It looks like many of the features requested earlier today — attachments to forum posts, for example — are available for BbPress.

    Here’s what I just downloaded (but haven’t yet installed) for BbPress (the platform that runs this discussion board):

    — subscribe to topic – allows users to subscribe to forum topics

    — hidden forums — allows users to hide boards or posts

    — allow images — allows users to attach images

    — bbcode buttons — adds formatting quicktags above editing textbox

    — bb attachments — adds ability to attach files to posts.
