GIS / Mapping User Group Summer Bootcamp

  • Hi, everyone.

During this summer, the GIS / Mapping User Group will be hosting a remote GIS bootcamp, with weekly meetings on Friday (4-5pm, right after out RUG meeting), from July 15 to August 19. Our goal will be to cover from the basics concepts of GIS and move to more advanced skills we can develop using the software QGIS (https://qgis.org/). By the end, we expect everyone to be able to create maps in QGIS as well as manipulate spatial data for future analyses and visualization in order to tell their own research story. If you are interested, fill out this form by July 13th. Also, feel free to spread out the word. Our tentative schedule is

Jul 15 – Intro to GIS

Jul 22 – Manipulating and modifying spatial data I

Aug 5 – Manipulating and modifying spatial data II

Aug 12 – Extracting and analyzing spatial data

Aug 19 – Data organization for GIS – mapping your analyses results
