NYC’s Python conference is coming up:

I look forward to the return of the in-person conference next year, but hopefully this year’s online format will tide us over until then!

These free summer workshops from ITHAKA on various Python topics look super interesting:

Is anyone here interested in a Zoom to discuss JavaScript across the campuses? Besides here, there are probably other forums where we might find people who would be interested in this…

The one I did was called RC Start (also via the Recurse Center), which sadly doesn’t exist anymore. But it wasn’t a retreat; you were basically just assigned a mentor for 6 months. It was fun. The retreat would be amazing, but I agree that it is hard to arrange from a practical perspective

Ah, that sounds pretty interesting! How did you make that work? (Did you take reassignment time or a sabbatical?) I don’t qualify for sabbatical yet but that type of environment sounds like it would be really beneficial, giving some structure and a dedicated environment to do what I’ve been doing on and off for the past year…

Of possible interest to those here, a NYC-based programming retreat:
I did one of their mini-mentorships a few years ago and it was a great experience.

Greetings Mark! Great to make your acquaintance. I’m Shane, from York. Hopefully I (or maybe future members) can be useful in your web endeavors.

Hi, I’m Mark. I’m a librarian at Kingsborough Community College. I program in Python and JavaScript. Right now, I’m interested moving our library website from a Bootstrap-based framework to Vue.js. I’m glad that Rebecca pointed me to this group!
