Google forms question

Hi everyone, I’m embedding a Google Form into a page and running into what I think are some stylesheet conflicts that make the form display a bit weirdly. Instead of just having the little red asterisk to signify that a form field is required for users to complete, when I embed the form onto my site here on the Commons it puts a line of text underneath each form field that reads “This is a required question.”

Has anyone else encountered this and have thoughts on how to remove it? I’ve tried messing around with the different form themes on Google’s end, but it doesn’t make any difference to pick a different theme.

    Thanks,
    Maura

Use them all over many sites and never seen this before. The form is typically a separate entity.

Thanks Stephen, would you be able to share a link? Unfortunately I can’t, because the page I’m working on is the registration page for the CUNY Games Festival and hasn’t gone live yet. But I should have mentioned that I’m using the Google Docs embed code in the form of [ gform form=’URL’ ] with the “viewdoc” URL from Google.

Hmm, weird, thanks Stephen for sending the link — it seems to be behaving differently on the Commons than on the GC library website.

    Hi Maura –

Can you please raise this issue in redmine? Many thanks –

Pasting iframe into non-visual editor mode?

    Thanks Matt, added to redmine.

I sent an email to commons@gc.cuny.edu yesterday, but now remember redmine. Having issues with a plugin. Who should the ticket be assigned to?

    Hi Stephen,

    >Pasting iframe into non-visual editor mode?

We don’t allow iframe embeds because of security issues. But we have created a shortcode that users can use to embed google docs and forms on blog pages and posts.

I think we’ve answered your redmine question on redmine, but don’t worry about assigning tickets — we’ll do that.

    Many thanks!

Thanks, Matt. The question was directed to Maura because I anticipated the response.

Hi everyone, Boone fixed my problem, which was ultimately user confusion I think. I had the WordPress Google Form plugin activated instead of the Google Docs Shortcode plugin, so the gform shortcode was working with that but doing the weird formatting thing. Deactivating the former, activating the latter, and using gdoc link=”URL” did the trick. Thanks!
