Those familiar with Digital Humanities will probably know of Matthew Kirschenbaum from MITH (Maryland Institute for Technology in the Humanities) at the University of Maryland.

He’ll be giving a lunchtime talk at the New York Public Library (Schwarzman Building, 42nd Street) on Friday, December 16 at noon. His talk will be related to his forthcoming book, “Track Changes: Authorship, Archives, and Literary Culture After Word Processing.”

    For the whole notice: http://www.nypl.org/events/programs/2011/12/16/stephen-kings-wang-literary-history-word-processing

(The room where the talk is held is not large, so you might want to arrive a little early.)

Thanks so much for posting, Bob! I’m very, very sorry to say that I can’t make it because of a schedule conflict, but if anyone is planning to go and would be interested in reporting back to this group, please either post here in the forum or on the CUNY DHI blog. And, if you don’t know him, Matt is a leader in DH whose first book, _Mechanisms: New Media and the Forensic Imagination_, is an important work for anyone interested in digital humanities and/or the materiality of digital media.

A NY Times reporter was also there and filed a report:
