CUNY IT Abstract

  • Below is the abstract (or a draft) that I intend to submit tomorrow. Please contact me if you are interested. I have reached out to some of the key CUNY leaders who are not on our subcommittee, including our erstwhile colleague, Howard Wach. But it would be good to have broad representation across campuses. Eloquence edits welcome. Thanks. Barbara

    ABSTRACT

ePortfolios across CUNY: A PechaKucha Snapshot

Leaders in the CUNY ePortfolio movement from different CUNY campuses will present snapshots of their campus and program ePortfolio initiatives via PechaKucha, demonstrating the diversity of projects, platforms and progress across CUNY campuses. The PechaKucha presentation will be followed by a structured discussion among the participants that highlights key points, and then a question and answer session that invites attendee engagement. The session promises to highlight and articulate similarities and differences across initiatives that result from diverse campus and program goals and the diversity of CUNY students, as well as start dates, commitment and progress in the ePortfolio implementation process. The session offers faculty, staff and administrators interested in ePortfolios an opportunity to review a number of initiatives and pose questions to CUNY experts.

  • Update — I submitted the abstract below to the CUNY IT Conference site last night. Since then, I have heard from Bruce Naples, who will be added. Others are more than welcome — we need good cross-campus representation. Thanks. Barbara

ePortfolio Cross-Campus Snapshots: A PechaKucha Presentation

Campus leaders in the CUNY ePortfolio movement from different colleges will present snapshots of their campus and program ePortfolio initiatives via PechaKucha, demonstrating the diversity of projects, platforms and purposes across CUNY. The PechaKucha presentation will be followed by a structured discussion among the participants focused on past experience, present projects, and future plans and objectives, and then a question and answer session that invites attendee engagement. The session will draw out key similarities and differences across ePortfolio implementation projects that result from diverse campus and program goals, CUNY student diversity, and different stages or levels of ePortfolio program development. The objective of the session is to develop cross-campus exchange on how best to frame and evaluate the contribution of ePortfolios to the educational process.
