  • CONSER (Library of Congress) cataloging DOAJ journals

This is chiefly of interest to librarians: I just found out that CONSER, the cooperative serials cataloging arm of the Library of Congress, has launched an initiative to catalog journals in DOAJ. This means that discovery of open access journals is greatly enhanced. CONSER records are used by services like Serials Solutions (where CUNY gets their catalog records for electronic journals) as well as shared in WorldCat, the English-language shared union catalog used internationally. This also means that the quality of catalog records for open access journals is likely to be even better now. Read more about this (in ScienceDirect: authenticate via your library’s ejournal portal or database pages) Les Hawkins, CONSER Cooperative Open Access Journal Project, Serials Review, Volume 36, Issue 3, September 2010, Pages 167-168, ISSN 0098-7913, DOI: 10.1016/j.serrev.2010.05.007.
