An experimental design is where two (or more) equivalent groups of subjects are exposed to different independent variables. The differences in the dependent variable can be attributed to the differences in the […]
I agree with your idea that his case shouldn’t be labeled as “tragic.” Although Dr. P. had the inability to recognize and interpret visual information, I do not think he was all that bothered by it. […]
The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat was a very fascinating read. I found it really interesting how Dr. P. saw faces when no faces were present, as well was able to describe items with such detail. For example, […]
One of my hypotheses is that slower response times will be reported on the Stroop incongruent conditions. My second hypothesis is that hearing an annoying noise will negatively affect response time on the Stroop task.
I have similar hypotheses. I was also surprised by my results because I did better by one tenth of a second in Condition C (hard Stroop and no noise) when compared to Condition D (hard Stroop and noise).
Andrew,
This is also one of my hypotheses. I was surprised when the Pearson correlation found no significance between conscientiousness and location choice/time management. I agree with your reasoning that no […]
A hypothesis I am testing is: the higher a person’s score in conscientiousness, the more likely they are to exhibit organization and planning behaviors. I think this hypothesis will be proven true because c […]
You really clearly explained the advantages of within-subjects design! I really like the scenario you came up with. That sounds like a really good way to use a within-subjects design.
A within-subjects design can bring along with it a few advantages. Less participants are required to participate in a study that uses a within-subjects design which decreases error variance and therefore provides […]
Afifa,
I really liked the definitions that you gave for studying and assignments. I agree with your response to questions #7 and #14. How often a student takes notes or participates, is dependent on the class […]
4) Plan ahead needs to be defined. Planning ahead can mean that you devote time in your schedule to complete the assignment or it can mean you sit down and outline your assignment multiple days in advance.
For this study, I chose to focus on eating and digging behaviors in eastern gray squirrels. My first hypothesis (1) asserts that eastern gray squirrels will eat more frequently in the winter than the summer, as […]
Faiza,
This article was really interesting to me because especially in today’s age, people from 8-80 are using cell phones and a study like this is more prevalent today than it was 10 years ago. I agree with you […]
In the New York Times article called “A Brain Implant Improved Memory,” Benedict Carey described the effect that a brain implant had on the memory of people with epilepsy. The hypothesis for this study was that […]
I agree with your idea that scientific discoveries and inquires began as the pursuit of knowledge, however, I think that scientific research “for the greater good” can still be heinous in nature. […]
