    LACUNY Emerging Technologies Committee

Robin Camille Davis started the topic Come Learn About Using Twine in the Library! March 15 workshop

Hands-on workshop organized by the LACUNY Emerging Technologies Committee

Twine describes itself as “an open-source tool for telling interactive, nonlinear stories.” It is similar to the print-based, “Choose Your Own Adventure Series” of books. Two CUNY librarians will be presenting on how they use Twine in their libraries.

    Emerging Tech in Libraries

I have consolidated my personal blog with this Emerging Tech in Libraries blog, since there’s a lot of overlap. I’ll still be active around the CUNY Academic Commons, but as for blogging, it will be easier for me […]

Robin Camille Davis commented on the post, Invisible spam pages on our website: how we locked out a hacker

Yikes, hope you can resolve this soon! I’m no security expert, but based on my past experience with this hacker, here are a couple thoughts:

Are you sure that the fake file that Madlife520 put online for the […]

    Emerging Tech in Libraries

I was first introduced to Twine through Birdland, a delightfully weird bit of e-lit. Its engine, Twine, is designed specially for interactive, nonlinear stories (the choose-your-own-adventure kind).

    Turns […]

    Emerging Tech in Libraries

Every year, I take all of my “Done” tasks in my daily work log, normalize them, and run them through a word cloud visualizer to see what I’ve been spending my time doing. This helps me as I write my annual […]

Sure. Would Friday 9/1 be a good day to meet, either in person or by video chat?

Great idea, Junior! I’m into it.

Yes, I’ve had to do the same thing, essentially making sure that the library website doesn’t get red flags with the WAVE tool.

There have been an unusual number of accessibility events in the past year (or so it seems to me). So this topic is extra on-trend and could also benefit from specific perspectives.

I’m also interested! I don’t have anything in mind yet, but the conference theme is a perfect fit for libraries.

Our library homepage’s main search area currently looks like this:

The tab box has served us well for years, but it’s about time we upgraded to something simpler and easier to use. We plan to give our […]

Funny you should ask! I just set this up for our library website.

Currently, we are tracking clicks only (as the event actions), focusing on the homepage’s elements.

    Category: tab box

Labels for everything: “Databases dropdown – articles,” “OneSearch button – books,” “Help – media,” etc.
The “- books” denotes which tab it’s in, since the…[Read more]

    Thanks for attending, everybody!

I put the code & data we used on GitHub: https://github.com/robincamille/textanalysisworkshop You’ll be happy to know that I updated the State of the Union addresses to have their years for titles, so that when you upload them to Voyant Tools, they’ll be arranged chronologically.
