HPPA 552 – Final Reflection on Clinical CorrelationsDuring the first clinical correlation course I was hesitant to speak about my thoughts regarding the cases and I lacked confidence in my differential diagnosis ideas. However, this changed in the second clinical correlation course, as I became eager to share my ideas even if it was wrong and I became more confident about my ideas. I realized it’s okay to be wrong because each case was a team effort. My other classmates might share the same incorrect idea as me and by sharing that idea out loud, I could help redirect them onto the correct path and hearing someone else explain why my idea was wrong was a valuable learning experience. Each classmate within the group has their own unique set of strengths and set of weaknesses but it is only when we humbly expose our weaknesses that we enable ourselves to grow and the team to become successful. I believe that one of my strengths was in presenting cases. I felt like I was able to present cases concisely yet thoroughly. Another strength of mine I believe is in ordering diagnostical exams such as laboratory tests or imaging. Whereas I felt that my weaknesses were in knowing the correct follow up questions to ask upon receiving an affirmative answer and which physical exam test to focus on performing. Areas I would like to improve on are my weaknesses and to do so, I should attempt to do as many histories and physicals during my rotations since it is a skill that is critical for providers to be well versed in.
