    I Like To Code.

I enjoyed the Jam Sandwich and the Binary Bracelets activities.

The other day it was so hot and I did not know what to cook for dinner. I decided I wanted a cold Gazpacho soup. I always loved that soup in restaurants but never attempted to make it on my own. I followed the recipe (algorithm) from the NYTimes and I also looked at…[Read more]

Edward Birzin replied to the topic Module 9 - Much Ado About K-12 Computing for Literacy Teacher Educators

I looked at three texts that I studied in college, texts that always stayed with me and texts that I have brought to students. I looked at Moby Dick, Leaves of Grass, and Frankenstein. I tried many different words that I thought summed up the text, or at least words I thought were important for the text. With “Leaves of Grass” I used “human”,…[Read more]

I found the graphic novel style of the resource to be fun.  I wonder if that whole comic was hand drawn or created using a computer program? Although I found it to be a fun resource I also felt like it just scratched the surface. I mean, I can understand Rolla’s use of Scratch in order to teach the Arabic letter to her young class, and Warrick’s…[Read more]

    • What are some noticings / wonderings you have about how we’ve framed equity in CITE? Any feedback for us?

I completely agree with the way equity has been framed, that is that as educators we should be looking to even the playing field by focusing on the students who are often left behind. One wondering that sticks out to me is about buy-in a…[Read more]

I just found a limitation while reviewing the video I made. On my computer in Canva it plays the whole film seamlessly. But when I opened the link here I realized that viewers have to click through every slide. I wonder if that was my fault? I will have to look into that.

I chose to work with Canva because I never have worked with it before. it is rather user friendly, although there were a couple of hiccups along the way, but mostly my fault. That’s why tinkering is helpful. Instead of discussing my work at Brooklyn College I decided to discuss the conference that I try to put on every year. I thought it would be…[Read more]

    • I kept cards 3, 16, 18 21 and 28. I had 12 cards in my overflow pile that also aligned with my thoughts on why CSed. I started off with many social justice reasons but switched to reasons that were more individualistic because I somehow felt those motivations and reasonings might also be…

    Hello all,

I am an adjunct in the Secondary Education department. I worked for ten years in the DOE as a teacher of ELA. I enjoy working with people who are excited to get into the profession.

I have never used these commons before. I like that they are called the commons because it reminds me of the Harvard Commons. Brooklyn College seems to…[Read more]
