    Clay Modelling Implementation

Dennis Aguirre commented on the post, Week 9

Since the buiolding of the clay heart model with its major vessels was a short quick activity, I build one in front of them to show them what it should look like in preparatuion for next week’s blood vessel modelling. To make it easier for my students, I placed a maniken on my main desk […]

    Clay Modelling Implementation

Preethi Radhakrishnan commented on the post, Week 5

Sorry it’s taken me awhile to get into the blog. The blog seemed to lock me out for a couple of weeks for some odd reason. I have personally had a great time with the clay manikins and so have my students. I just wish we had more time (towards the end) for me to […]

    Clay Modelling Implementation

Randall Saad commented on the post, Week 2

The first muscle lab went well. The students were very engaged and seemed to enjoy the activity. I kept reminding them that this was a learning exercise and not just a “fun” lab. I stressed that they were going to see the relationships of groups of muscles that would not be as apparent in the […]

    Clay Modelling Implementation

    V. Rojanavongse commented on the post, Week 5

I also agree that the students have a much better depth of understanding in terms of the relationship of the muscles and their attachment sites on bones. I have also used one of the mannikins as a guide for the students and have emphasized that they are not to model any of the muscles based […]

    Clay Modelling Implementation

Dennis Aguirre commented on the post, Week 5

My class started with the clay modelling yesterday and the Bowen muscle atlas helped students see the origin and insertion of muscles and it would be great to include a couple of pencils in each of the draws to facilitate students in marking the manikins. Since the Amerman lab manual is no comparison to the […]

    Clay Modelling Implementation

Randall Saad commented on the post, Week 5

I am planning to work with Dr. Jaffri and Dr. Matcha next week on the mannikin Dr. Jaffri obtained. I will be coming in during Spring break as well. I am going to ask Alfredo for the clay and equipment so I and my cohorts can better familiarize ourselves with the activity as well as […]

Can I keep a torso and work in my office for a week or so? I would like to take the time to practice.

    Clay Modelling Implementation

Dennis Aguirre commented on the post, Welcome!

Although it is irreplaceable to have real live specimens and tissues, I see that there is much potential with using clay to explain different biological topics. Just this past Fall II winter session, I used clay to explain early embryological development and it got the point through to students.
