WordPress HELP!!

This group is for neophytes to WordPress who are trying to use it as a Bbd alternative and have questions that “everyone knows” the answers to already. Except those who don’t. Quick answers to specific questions is what I envision here, so we can set up our courses without spending hours trying to find out a simple answer. Of course, we NEED EXPERTS in the group to actually answer the questions. All experts and neophytes please join this group!!

Update: WordPress Hit Counter plugin

  • Dear WordPress Hit Counter plugin users,

You may have noticed that your hit counter no longer appears on your blog. Unfortunately, we had to remove the WordPress Hit Counter plugin because it was causing performance issues on some blogs. Our lead developer, Boone, wrote about it here: http://dev.commons.gc.cuny.edu/2011/11/01/commons-1-2-4-2/.

The good news is that there is another plugin that will work as a replacement, but the bad news is that it will reset your stats. If you are interested in adding a new hit counter to your blog, you can use the “Firestats” plugin (screenshot attached). Just follow these instructions to add this plugin to your blog:

    1. Go to the Dashboard of your blog.
    2. Click on the “Plugins” tab in the left navigation area.
    3. Type the word “firestats” into the search bar in the upper-right corner and click “Search Plugins.”
    4. The FireStats plugin should appear at the top of the page, select “activate” to enable this plugin.
    5. Once the plugin is activated, click on “Appearance>Widgets” in the left navigation area.
    6. FireStats will be listed under “Available Widgets.” Use your mouse to click and drag the Firestats widget over to your sidebar and select “Save.”
    7. The FireStats hit counter should now appear on your blog.
