PUG – Python User’s Group

Python User’ Group (or PUG for short) is an open and informal collaborative space for experimentation and exploration with the Python programming language. It is an opportunity for those interested in Python to work together virtually and find support. Whether you are looking for advice or assistance with new or current projects, looking to discuss and learn new skills using Python tools, or to join us to play around with our collection of sample datasets, PUG is your place!

PUG is open to people of all skill levels, disciplines, and backgrounds. Complete beginners to Python will find a place here. Come, and let’s learn together.

PUG is cosponsored by the MA in Digital Humanities / MS in Data Analytics and Visualization programs and the Mina Rees Library.

  • Digital Project Design Workshop

    Hi all! I’ll be leading a workshop on Thursday on Digital Project Design in advance of the Provost’s Digital Innovation Grant deadline. You will be able to get something out of our work regardless of whether you are developing your project for a PDIG proposal or something else. I can’t wait to share with you a new activity for helping to refine your audience… The description and link to register are below.

    Take care,

    Lisa

    Digital Project Design Workshop
    February 5 @ 11:30 am – 1:00 pm || Zoom

    Do you have a digital project you want to start? Are you planning to apply for a Provost’s Digital Innovation Grant (PDIG)? What does it take to get started making your idea come to fruition? Join this 90-minute, online, interactive workshop to take your project idea and develop a realizable project outline and abstract. We will begin by thinking about the rationale or need for the project. Then we will develop a clear, coherent audience statement. We will identify what affordances and resources you have at your disposal while developing your work, and we will work together to help plan for  your project’s needs. As time allows, we will work on potential outreach and communication strategies and modes of evaluation. Finally, we will go over the project proposal format for the Provost’s Digital Innovation Grants so that you can start looking for funding to support your work. All you need to bring to the virtual room are your ideas, focus, and space to write. This session is designed to be interactive, so plan to unmute and ask all your questions.

    The workshop is free, but registration is limited to those who sign-up in advance.
