Welcome to the course site for Medical Anthropology (ANTH225) at Queens College, the Fall 2022 edition.

Medical anthropology examines how health and illness, as well as medical knowledge and practice, are shaped not only by culture but also by social, political and economic realities. In this course we will study the basics of this vast subfield of cultural anthropology, including its history and contemporary significance as well as central concepts and theoretical debates. We will draw on scholarly texts, local and global current events, and our own experiences.

Here you will find all of the readings and resources associated with the course as well as a virtual space to connect with each other beyond the classroom.
