EBSCO and vendor full text accessibility remediation
Posted by Adina Mulliken on March 10, 2026 at 10:51 amHi all, Exciting news I think– Yesterday I learned- from Justin Tricarico in Hunter’s Digital Learning- that EBSCO offers a button to request an accessible copy of not only e-books but also journal articles. And, EBSCO returned the article Justin tried with pretty good quality tagging within a business day!!! I think this will be an amazing improvement for full text through EBSCO. Unlike some of the remediated ebooks, I don’t know of any restrictions on sharing the article with people who do not have disabilities, such as in an LMS. The button to request an accessible copy of the article is in the “full featured reading view,” (when the article view takes up the whole page) at the topmost farthest right on the screen, there is an image of a human in a circle. When I mouse over it, it says “accessibility support.”
Anyway, I was asked to compile a list of library vendors that offer to remediate full text for accessibility upon request. Does anyone else happen to have a list like that? Or anyone know of vendors that offer to remediate full text other than EBSCO, Proquest for ebooks, and Kanopy? I just googled and am finding that Elsevier does this. I don’t usually deal with less social work related vendors, so there may be a lot I don’t know of. Would anyone be interested to collaborate on making a list like this?
