The Practical Teaching Seminar focuses on introducing and modelling effective, hands-on strategies for classroom learning and management, many of which also apply to online teaching. Drawing from constructivist, brain-based, and inquiry-based learning as well as trauma and resiliency theory, the Teaching and Learning Center Director will guide participants in the following areas:

1. Managing differences in student preparation levels
2. Choosing and designing knowledge organizers
3. Scaffolding small group activities
4. Learning and applying facilitation skills
5. Activating student motivation
6. Introducing reflective opportunities
7. Implementing effective practice and feedback
8. Matching student goal-setting and time management
