I was looking at the BCC ePortfolios and noticed that they created custom banners for students to use. I used my limited means to create an eportfolio banner for SPS. Perhaps this is something we could create using the GC Mac Lab. Any thoughts?
I like your banners, and as a kind of principle I think students should be able to design them. At BCC the rudimentary banner we designed was not to the taste of a lot of students, and so we encouraged them to design their own, so long as they retain the “brand”–the logo and the words e-portfolio. That said, it’s impossible to “police” the banners in Digication (at least as the system works now). They remain changeable on the user’s portfolio settings.
Howard and Sarah — I had just sent an e-mail to Sarah privately about our desire to maintain a consistent presentation of the CUNY logo. As a very, very picky issue, I would also like to see a little more contrast in the ink color for ePortfolios — it’s difficult to read the lettering in black here. But I love the idea of students being able to individualize their banners — something we encourage for faculty teaching online. One other thing — perhaps we should encourage students (everyone) to have their name in the title of the ePortfolio. Barbara
