Digital Humanities Initiative

The CUNY Digital Humanities Initiative (CUNY DHI), launched in Fall 2010, aims to build connections and community among those at CUNY who are applying digital technologies to scholarship and pedagogy in the humanities. All are welcome: faculty, students, and technologists, experienced practitioners and beginning DHers, enthusiasts and skeptics.

We meet regularly on- and offline to explore key topics in the Digital Humanities, and share our work, questions, and concerns. See our blog for more information on upcoming events (it’s also where we present our group’s work to a wider audience). Help edit the CUNY Digital Humanities Resource Guide, our first group project. And, of course, join the conversation on the Forum.

How does technology mediate what it means to be human?

Bard’s Experimental Humanities initiative is Bard’s liberal arts-based answer to the Digital Humanities. It emphasizes both \”new\” media technologies and the reconsideration of \”old\” media in the study of what it means to be human, as well as the role of experimentation in humanistic scholarship, learning, and the arts.

Bard College’s Center for Experimental Humanities (http://eh.bard.edu) seeks a creative and versatile software developer to design, build, and support the next generation of applications for projects in the digital arts and humanities. This developer will be an integral part of a dynamic interdisciplinary center and work closely with faculty across campus as well as academic technology services to experiment with new approaches and tools toward content creation and presentation.
