Digital Humanities Initiative

The CUNY Digital Humanities Initiative (CUNY DHI), launched in Fall 2010, aims to build connections and community among those at CUNY who are applying digital technologies to scholarship and pedagogy in the humanities. All are welcome: faculty, students, and technologists, experienced practitioners and beginning DHers, enthusiasts and skeptics.

We meet regularly on- and offline to explore key topics in the Digital Humanities, and share our work, questions, and concerns. See our blog for more information on upcoming events (it’s also where we present our group’s work to a wider audience). Help edit the CUNY Digital Humanities Resource Guide, our first group project. And, of course, join the conversation on the Forum.

    Dear colleagues,

I am writing to share a few upcoming virtual events that might be of
    interest.

*Computational Periodicals Unconference – May 18*

    https://github.com/bcglee/comp-periodicals

(Part of the ACH & CSDH/SCHN “DH Unbound” conference)

This gathering aims to provide a space for conversation across the many
different fields and communities working computationally with historical
periodicals, serials, newspapers, magazines, and more. All are welcome,
regardless of expertise or experience, and particularly those working in
Black Studies, Latinx Studies, Latin American Studies, Caribbean Studies,
    and other areas.

*Research Society for American Periodicals Virtual Symposium – May 19-20*

    http://www.periodicalresearch.org/rsap-2022

The RSAP invites you to a virtual symposium to highlight some of the most
innovative and exciting research in periodical studies today. This
symposium welcomes anyone with an interest in the study of periodicals in
the Americas at no cost. We are also pleased to call for proposals for
    two-minute
    lightning talks
    (http://www.periodicalresearch.org/cfp-2022-lightning-talks/) on any
digital projects or pedagogy dealing with historical periodicals.
