Digital Humanities Initiative

The CUNY Digital Humanities Initiative (CUNY DHI), launched in Fall 2010, aims to build connections and community among those at CUNY who are applying digital technologies to scholarship and pedagogy in the humanities. All are welcome: faculty, students, and technologists, experienced practitioners and beginning DHers, enthusiasts and skeptics.

We meet regularly on- and offline to explore key topics in the Digital Humanities, and share our work, questions, and concerns. See our blog for more information on upcoming events (it’s also where we present our group’s work to a wider audience). Help edit the CUNY Digital Humanities Resource Guide, our first group project. And, of course, join the conversation on the Forum.

Call for Participation: Digital Project Working Groups

  • Announcing the first meeting of the GCDI Digital Project Working Groups!

The GC Digital Initiatives invite anyone working on digital projects to come to the first meeting of the Digital Projects Working Groups! Led by the GC Digital Fellows, the Working Groups are a new program designed to bring together and support communities of CUNY students, faculty, and staff who are interested in or working on similar projects. The Working Groups will provide a sustained, supportive environment to learn new skills, share old skills, and collaborate with both the Digital Fellows and the CUNY digital community.

Join us on Friday, September 30th, at 2:30pm in room 9205 for our initial meeting! In this meeting we will be discussing the style and format of the Working Groups, in addition to creating the Working Groups who will begin meeting this semester. Current planned Working Groups include (but are certainly not limited to):

    • Python Learners Working Group
    • Text Analysis Working Group
    • GIS Working Group

All CUNY graduate students, faculty, and staff are welcome to attend! If you are unable to attend but are interested in participating in the working groups, please contact the GC Digital Fellows at gc.digitalfellows@gmail.com for more information.
