CUNY AI Literacy Efforts – Librarians & Others

  • Hello, I’m a new member to this Interest Group –

January 2, 2025 I started at BCC as the Reference & Instructional Design librarian and quickly found a “calling” of sorts to promote AI Literacy/Fluency among the students. With music as my other interest to library work, I have attended numerous conferences and been reading about AI for months now. . . In March I presented 4 AI Library Workshops, and this summer I will be modifying and supplementing the materials in this workshop to create a 3-level AI Student Course in Brightspace, with assessments and a digital badge upon completion of each level.

Since being here I’ve been trying to figure out what other CUNY schools, especially CUNY Librarians are doing in the area of AI Literacy.

Can others share what they are doing in their CUNY spheres?  Perhaps we can learn something in the process and even collaborate.

  • Hi Jana– thanks for posting here.

Tagging in Ian McDermott (@imcdermott) and Sarah Cohn (@scohn), both of whom I’m sure you know already. They’re both participating in our CALI and will be best positioned to connect the curriculum and policy thinking we do there with your projects and efforts by librarians across CUNY on this front.
