Perfection is a bit of a stretch when it comes to describing something seemingly flawless to one’s mind. This also applies to dance critics. Understandably, dancing is a very intricate process with several factors to be considered: the movement, the performers, the background, the audience (of which even the perfect dance critic is a part of), among other key aspects. With that said, the perfect dance critic would have a complete understanding of all these features in a dance, which would take a tremendous amount of time out of the critic’s life. The perfect dance critic would likely have to devote their whole life towards this, something normal dance critics likely do not have the commitment to do. One may have to interact with all the dancers backstage or look into a performance’s history in order to perfectly critique the dance. Even the most accomplished of dance critics cannot commit to such a task in order to achieve this perceived level of flawlessness. To say that achieving this supposed “perfection” as a dance critic is an impossibility would be an understatement. For those who desire such perfection, they will have to wait for a long time.
