    Hello,
Are there any plugins such as to ‘make this website talk’ and a ‘text only option’? I can’t seem to find any in the installed plugins

Hi Brian – I think the only thing like that that we have installed on the Commons is “Text to Speech” which is a widget that has an input text area that you can paste in content and convert to speech. If you can find something better in the WordPress repository, let us know and we can install it. Thanks.

    Hey Scott,
I found this plugin would it be possible to add it to the Commons?

You might consider a plugin like this one: https://wordpress.org/plugins/screen-reader-with-fontsize/#reviews

Hi Brian – I have requested the Browsealoud plugin at https://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/issues/11788

I will let you know when it is available.

    Hi Brian –

Our developer wants to make sure you know the following before installing the plugin:

To be clear, this plugin simply acts as a bridge between the WP site and the user’s Browse Aloud subscription. It doesn’t actually provide the text-to-speech functionality – it appears that the plugin does nothing unless the end user signs up for a trial or gets a subscription https://www.texthelp.com/en-us/pricing/.

Can you let us know. Thanks.

    Hey Scott,
I know this may be a long shot, but is there anyway to piggyback off of CUNY’s subscription package? Looking at their sites I can see it implemented on there

    Best,
    Brian

Hi Brian – I’m not sure about this. Perhaps you can contact someone at CUNY who is using BrowseAloud?
