Digital Humanities Initiative

The CUNY Digital Humanities Initiative (CUNY DHI), launched in Fall 2010, aims to build connections and community among those at CUNY who are applying digital technologies to scholarship and pedagogy in the humanities. All are welcome: faculty, students, and technologists, experienced practitioners and beginning DHers, enthusiasts and skeptics.

We meet regularly on- and offline to explore key topics in the Digital Humanities, and share our work, questions, and concerns. See our blog for more information on upcoming events (it’s also where we present our group’s work to a wider audience). Help edit the CUNY Digital Humanities Resource Guide, our first group project. And, of course, join the conversation on the Forum.

Introductory GIS Workshop Using QGIS May 3rd 2019

  • Hello everyone,

I\’m running one of my day-long introductory workshops in GIS using QGIS on Friday May 3rd. The sessions are held at the GIS Lab at Baruch College and are open to all current CUNY graduate students, faculty, and staff, and to Baruch undergrads. Advance registration is required and participants must bring their own laptop with QGIS 3.4 pre-installed. More information and the link to register is here:

    http://guides.newman.baruch.cuny.edu/gis/gisprac

I\’m still in the process of updating my workbook and other materials, so the stuff on the website is not up to date yet (i.e. still based on QGIS 2.18). This might be the last time I run this workshop, so if you\’re interested and available check it out. There are a limited number of seats remaining.

    Best – Frank

  • PLEASE NOTE – The workshop is now full and registration is closed. Given the limited amount of space and seats I can’t overbook the session.
