Just curious if anyone else has been working on an Omeka site that might be impacted by the change to version 2.0 coming soon. All the changes look rather exciting, but we’ve done a lot of custom plugins and theme building. Anxious to get my hands on it and see how it works.

Since my Omeka sites are built and static and there are few security concerns with the older versions, I will propably not upgrade unless there is a decent db upgrade script.

I would hope that support is provided [and I’m pretty sure it is based on what I’ve read]. That would be a MONSTER if it wasn’t.

I always wondered if it was secure simply because no one can be troubled to hack a small limited use CMS [security through obscurity] or it was really genuinely secure. Either way, the plugins and the extensibility requirements for the grants I’m working on make upgrading non-optional for me in the near future. I’ll let you know how it goes in case you hold off on the updates.

We’re going to be upgrading at least some of the Omeka sites within the Queens College Dept of Special Collections when it comes out. The better admin interface will be a huge plus for the students working on the site’s back end, and I really hope they mean it when they say that searching will be vastly improved. We have six separate sites in total and in a few of them we made changes to the core code, so that might be tricky to make sure we can re-customize what we need to. We’ll most definitely have to take it one site at a time and see how it goes, fingers crossed!
