WordPress HELP!!

This group is for neophytes to WordPress who are trying to use it as a Bbd alternative and have questions that “everyone knows” the answers to already. Except those who don’t. Quick answers to specific questions is what I envision here, so we can set up our courses without spending hours trying to find out a simple answer. Of course, we NEED EXPERTS in the group to actually answer the questions. All experts and neophytes please join this group!!

Adding Forms using cformsII

  • Hello! I’m extremely new to WP but am making the site for the GC Cinema Studies conference. I made a “Registration” form on Google Docs but then noticed it wasn’t actually embedding (found out that other people have had this problem using WP too). I then made another form using cformsII through my Dashboard, but now am getting another error message: “It appears that cforms was not able to create abspath.php in your cforms plugin folder. Please check file/folder permissions (plugins/cforms), then re-activate cforms.

If the problem persists, please create a file (using your preferred text editor) manually with the following content:

I’ve got the newest version of cformsII on my desktop, but am confused about the error message. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

  • I also tried to use Mike Walsh’s WordPress Google Form plugin, but it’s still a no go! The form won’t load…

    Hi Ria,

Direct embedding is a security risk on a multisite installation like the Commons, but the community team is looking into some different options. I’ll keep you posted on our findings.

I find that “Contact Form 7” works well, and if you install “Really Simple Captcha”, you can filter out spam. Those two plugins kind of work together. Probably doesn’t have the bells and whistles of cforms, but could be a quick alternative. Let me know if you need help setting it up.

It’s just a simple registration form, so I’ll try Contact Form 7 — thank you both!
