Digital Humanities Initiative

The CUNY Digital Humanities Initiative (CUNY DHI), launched in Fall 2010, aims to build connections and community among those at CUNY who are applying digital technologies to scholarship and pedagogy in the humanities. All are welcome: faculty, students, and technologists, experienced practitioners and beginning DHers, enthusiasts and skeptics.

We meet regularly on- and offline to explore key topics in the Digital Humanities, and share our work, questions, and concerns. See our blog for more information on upcoming events (it’s also where we present our group’s work to a wider audience). Help edit the CUNY Digital Humanities Resource Guide, our first group project. And, of course, join the conversation on the Forum.

CUNY Digital Humanities Resource Guide Featured on Digital Library Federation Page

  • Hi All,

I just received notice that the CUNY Digital Humanities Resource Guide ( http://commons.gc.cuny.edu/wiki/index.php/The_CUNY_Digital_Humanities_Resource_Guide ), a collaborative publication that emerged from our initiative, has been featured on the Digital Humanities page on the Digital Library Federation Website ( http://www.diglib.org/community/groups/digitalhumanities/ ).

This is great news and a very nice validation of our work. I’m particularly thankful to Charlie Edwards, the co-director of CUNY DHI, who did the bulk of the work in putting together the first iteration of the guide. This is a reminder of how useful the guide has been to many people just starting to learn about DH.

And that brings me to my final point, which is a reminder that this guide is on the Commons wiki, which means that any member of the Commons can edit it. PLEASE DO!!!! We’d love to have all members of CUNY DHI adding resources, since this is meant to be a living document. Please help us keep it up to date.

    Best,

    Matt

  • Excellent! It is definitely the most comprehensive list that I’ve ever come across. I also like how you offer so many options whereby outside readers of the guide can suggest links.
