Preserving Our Stories: Counterarchiving in the Digital Space 4/22 (2-3PM)
Posted by Robin Miller (she/her/ella) on April 14, 2026 at 5:12 pmDear Colleagues,
Curious about incorporating archival materials into your teaching practice?
Join us for our last Manifold Community event of the year exploring Daniel Simidor: A New York Haitian Revolutionary— a Manifold digital project that centers the life and work of community activist, educator, and longtime archivist Daniel Simidor. Drawing from curated materials including original poetry, student zines, and historical writings housed at the Haitian Studies Institute, project creator Herline Honorat (PhD student in Urban Education) invites participants to engage in practices that see histories as both archival record and living practice.
Together, we will explore the project’s multimodal methodology, supported by the Manifold open publishing platform, including its integration of music, personal reflection, and digital text analysis as a means of reimagining archival engagement.
Date: Wednesday, 4/22/2026
Time: 2-3 PM
Location: The Graduate Center, Room 5307
We hope you will join us!
