November LACUNY SCRT Meeting

  Hi all,

  The next meeting of the LACUNY Scholarly Communications Roundtable will be Wednesday, November 15 at 4-5pm, on Zoom:

  This meeting will focus on issues surrounding peer review. We’ll discuss two brief articles:

  • Owning the peer review process: If we have to do this work, we should own it (by Charlotte Roh, in College & Research Libraries News – thanks to Monica Berger for the suggestion!)
  • Ask the Chefs: What is the Single Most Pressing Issue for the Future of Peer Review? (from the Scholarly Kitchen – thanks to Beth Evans for the suggestion!)

  If possible, please read the articles in advance of the meeting, and bring your thoughts, questions, and ideas…as well as any experiences with peer review you’d like to share.

  Also, it’s a longer article, and it was just published, so I haven’t had a chance to read it yet, but this Urban Library Journal article looks like a worthwhile read: Making Publishing Less Painful: Shifting to a Relational Peer-Review Process (by Sajni Lacey, Kristina Clement, Lalitha Nataraj, and Nicole Pagowsky). No pressure to read it in advance of the meeting, though!

  As always, no scholarly communication expertise is needed to attend. Anyone who’s curious about peer review or scholarly communication topics in general is welcome!
