LACUNY Services for Incarcerated People Roundtable

The Services for Incarcerated People Roundtable provides a forum for librarians who support, or are interested in supporting, library services for incarcerated people to discuss current issues, broaden their understanding, and raise awareness of information barriers within the carceral system. The Roundtable connects CUNY librarians with other librarian-led groups, such as Prison Library Support Network, that provide direct services to incarcerated people, and serves as a resource for CUNY groups such as the UFS Committee on Higher Education in the Prisons and those working in prison education programs. https://lacunysips.commons.gc.cuny.edu/

Group Outing to Return to Sender October 27

What: the roundtable’s first outing will be to the art exhibit Return to Sender: Prison as Censorship, curated by Mariame Kaba and co-organized by PEN America. After the gallery visit, the Roundtable will have a zine-sharing happy hour (location TBD).

Where: EFA Project Space, 323 W 39th St, New York, NY 10018

When: October 27, 2pm.

Thanks for pulling this info together, Rachel!

It sounded like there was a handful of us available on that date – should we also share to CULIBS to broaden participation? I think with scheduling difficulties (so much going on) we’re unlikely to be overwhelmed, but what do folks think?

Hi, I think sharing out is a good idea.

Is 2 pm too early? I was thinking in terms of avoiding rush hour…But maybe we should adjust to 3pm?
