  • Our research group concentrates on faint populations of gamma-ray emitting objects. Gamma-rays trace the most energetic processes and extreme objects and environments in the universe. We target “tip-of-the-iceberg” populations, source types that have been detected at high energies, but at much lower numbers than presumably exist. By employing likelihood stacking techniques, we can definitively detect and characterize populations and probe previously unexplored astrophysics at the highest energies. Populations under investigation include starburst galaxies, nearby Milky Way clouds, flare stars, pulsars, globular clusters, luminous stars, galaxy clusters, novae, and dwarf galaxies.
