Why Yalow?

I chose Yalow because: Yalow is a tight-knit community of ambitious individuals who appreciate the sciences, and as someone who shares these aspirations and is interested in pursuing a career in medicine, I wanted to be a part of this amazing group. Additionally, I was drawn to the different connections Yalow has to various research institutions and hospitals/volunteering organizations across NYC; it’s made me excited to pursue opportunities I couldn’t participate in prior to college due to the pandemic. Lastly, I’m thankful for the team of advisors and students (SPLs) who could give me personalized help and provide resources to help me succeed in my classes now as well as in the future when I’m ready to advance on to pursuing a medical career.

During my time in Yalow, I’ve met so many like-minded students who inspire me to work hard, stay positive, and challenge myself. I’ve already made lasting memories in just my first year, and as a sophomore, I look forward to deepening my relationships with my advisors and continuing to grow. The Yalow advisors are incredibly supportive and ensure students like me are taking full advantage of premed opportunities while staying on track academically. My current goals include maintaining strong grades, staying engaged on campus, and continuing my long-term research—particularly in neuroscience, where I’m excited to contribute to developing new studies related to the brain.

I want to be a: Pediatrician or a Neurologist/Neurosurgeon
