Film Screening: Sexy Killers / Meet and Greet Q&A with Director Dandhy Laksono April 2, 2025, 5:00 – 7:30 PM Location: CUNY Graduate Center room C 204-205 Join us for a film screening of Sexy Killers followed with a meet and greet Q&A session with Director Dandhy Laksono. Sexy Killers is a 2019 Indonesian documentary film directed by Dandhy Laksono and Ucok Suparta about the coal mining industry and its relations with the Indonesian political establishment. The film is a final piece to Laksono’s 12-part documentary series Ekspedisi Indonesia Biru (Blue Indonesia Expedition) which aims to assess economic development and its environmental impact in Indonesia. Sexy Killers was released on April 14, 2019, ahead of the ballot day of the Indonesian 2019 general election, sparking controversy. This event is generously sponsored by the Film and Media Cultures Certificate Program at the City University of New York (CUNY), New York Southeast Asia Network (NYSEAN), and the SUNY/CUNY Southeast Asia Consortium (SEAC).
