My dissertation will be on the inclusion of queer literature, writers, and voices in the English classroom, in grades K-12 and the college level.

American Literature; Composition Studies and Theory; Cultural Studies and Theory; Ethnic American Literature and Studies; Feminist Theory/Women’s Literature and Studies; Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Literature, Studies, and Theory; Gender and Sexuality Studies; Italian American Literature and Studies; Literature of the Marginalized, Oppressed, “Other,” and Voiceless; Postcolonial Literature and Theory; Rhetoric.
My current research interests include:
1. How writing practice can create strong identities and voices among marginalized and oppressed peoples.
2. Explore questions of gender, sexuality, ethnicity, race, class, power, marginalization, and oppression in literature and in society.
3. Question the “other” and literature: whether the “other” is the writer, the reader, a character, and/or the literary critic.
4. How and why certain writers, literatures, and communities are marginalized and oppressed.
5. How and why gender and sexuality influence our reading and analysis of literature.
6. Question the importance and necessity of gender and sexuality studies in the analysis, advancement, and diversification of literature and society.
