Part 2: Lifelong LearningI choose to use a growth mindset, set effective learning goals, have good time management, reflect on my actions and their outcomes, and develop more discipline than self motivation. Personally, I believe that learning is a continuous, evolving process—not a destination. To reach your destination you must see the positive in every opportunity and use each situation as a source of learning, whether it be good or bad. As the field of medicine advances, I must stay open to new evidence from new research and new technologies. I must learn to change or adapt to new perspectives as well. Effective learning goals include making a to-do list daily, weekly, and monthly so that my learning goals accumulate to provide a yearly update and visible progress. Setting goals that are attainable motivate you further to strive for them since they are possible in your vision. Time management also aids in allowing you to schedule your classes and studying periods at optimal times where you actively learn and absorb material best. Spend time doing what you can in the most efficient way possible. Lastly, discipline is more important than motivation because discipline will train you even on days that you are tired, exhausted, and want to give up. Motivation is temporary adrenaline, while discipline is a c […] “Part 2: Lifelong Learning”

    My Guide to PhysicianHood

Part 1: DescriptionAs a future CUNY MED MD, I aspire to be ambitious but reflective, compassionate but treated with respect, and inquisitive but consistent with my academic learning. My ultimate goal as a MD is to balance the intellectual rigor given by the biomedical/medical school courses I take with the emotional intelligence necessary to interact with and treat patients in real life. Not only do I desire to learn about the biological and chemical contexts of life, but also apply these concepts with ease in communication with my patients. As a learner, I desire to be comfortable with failure, so I can help my patients through times where they feel the same way. I hope to gain skills outside of simply learning to aid my emotional and mental growth to become a mature, respectful, and multi-talented physician. Such skills include seeking improvement with constructive feedback, collaboration with medical professionals, and constantly striving for health […] “Part 1: Description”

Public Health Advocacy: The Loneliness Epidemic effect on mental health

Explore Epilone!Hi! Our names are Garencha, Kamya, and Sam and we are a team of psychosocial researchers based in NYC. ABOUT US Garencha graduated from Columbia University with a B.S. in Neuroscience and a Master’s in Public Health with a concentration in neuroscience. Kamya graduated from Stanford University with a B.S. in Psychology and an M.D. from Weil Cornell. Sam obtains a B.S. in Philosophy from UCLA and a PhD in social sciences. Garencha, Kamya, and Sam met through a public awareness campaign about autism, became quick friends, and were inspired to focus on another mental health issue not discussed enough such as loneliness. ABOUT EPILONE Our public awareness campaign termed Epilone started in 2025 to cater services to individuals that feel lonely using interventions gathered from theories across psychological, social, historical bases. Our campaign was inspired from our own stories and stories of people we are closely related to, which makes our research regarding this topic personable and effective. Our six blog posts, infographic, multimedia presentation, and press release focus on the following components to target interventions on the loneliness epidemic: Real world implications (limited social interaction) Living through their screens (how the epidemic is affected by our digital age) Mental health implications (feelings of being “inadequate”, depressed, etc)  The language we use around this epidemic and its implications for those affected (i.e. “being lonely” vs. “being alone”) Incell community (how the epidemic translates negatively on social media) How did this epidemic come about (because humans are historically social creatures so how did we get to th […] “Explore Epilone!”
