I’m Justin, one of the new Instructional Designers working in the Center for Online Learning at Hunter College. Prior to working at Hunter College, I worked at Queens College from 2010 until 2023, overseeing instructional technology for the School of Music

  • Assist faculty with the design and implementation of hybrid, HyFlex, and online courses while recommending best practices for flexibility and accessibility of course materials.
  • Support all departments with use of apps, videos, and augmented reality/virtual reality tools in the classroom.
  • Ensure consistency and efficiency in course design and technology adoption while investigating new technologies and pedagogies.
  • Provide course quality reviews for best instructional practices and accessibility.
  • Provide training opportunities to faculty and research current trends in online learning.

Senior College Laboratory Technician, 2010 – 2023

  • Assist, train and advise faculty on the use of instructional technology, including LMS platforms, online collaboration tools, and HyFlex classroom systems
  • Support, manage, and maintain technology facilities, including two computer labs, two recording studios, and 16 classroom A/V systems

Adjunct Lecturer – Music Production, 2014 – 2019

  • Developed and taught introductory course in music production for 12 semesters
  • Oversaw the transition of the course into a hybrid in-person/online course with approximately half of class meetings taking place fully online
  • Developed, recorded, and edited multimedia and online course content
  • Mentored students in running recording sessions and using recording technology equipment

Freelance Audio Engineer, 2008 – 2020

  • Numerous engagements for live sound mixing, music/podcast/speech recording and mixing, sound design for theater, and recording/mixing audio for video
  • Managed, designed, and maintained the technology infrastructure (microphones, cabling, equipment, etc.) for Threadbare Music, a recording studio in Long Island City from 2017 – 2020
