I think that the meaning of the musical was enhanced through the revival. Incorporating Spanish gave it the real feel of the Puerto Rican culture. In my opinion, the Spanish language is one of the five love languages. So by adding this love to musical showed the love sharks had for each other and Maria’s love for Tony.
Even the choreography changed the people viewed the musical. There was more passion, a sexual conversation that proves the viewers just how in love Tony and Maria were. They didn’t need to speak because the dance said it all. You can see this in their first encounter, “Dance at the Gym”.
