Denise D.P. Thompson

Associate Professor & Director MPA Inspection and Oversight at John Jay College of Criminal Justice

Denise Thompson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Public Management at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, the City University of New York, USA. She is a subject matter expert in disaster risk reduction and management and public policy and consults in these areas. She brings over a decade and a half of research and publications on small island developing states, disaster risk governance, disaster resilience and sustainability, climate change and the built environment, disaster supply chain management, logistics in humanitarian operations. She has made an impact in the areas of program development and evaluation, program accreditation, student learning outcomes assessment, strategic planning and curricular development. Dr. Thompson is also the director of the MPA Inspection and Oversight program at John Jay College working to advance accountability, integrity and oversight in government, non for profit and related oversight agencies by equipping current and future public servants with the knowledge, skills, and leadership experiences necessary to excel in these functions.
