Deborah B Charnoff

PhD student, ABD, History

After a career in law, I am returning to my first intellectual love, history, with a major is Early Modern Europe, and a minor in Intellectual History. I have also expanded my intellectual history interest to encompass early modern America, e.g., my dissertation encompasses the Atlantic republican tradition in England and America. I am passionate about both writing and teaching, and have been fortunate to have the opportunity to teach since 2009, primarily at Baruch College but also at Queens College as well as one semester at a private school in NJ. In addition to teaching the introductory Global History course numerous times, I have taught Renaissance History, 17th and 18th c. European Thought, On Revolution, and Early Modern Europe, 1500-1815. I also expect to be teaching a course in the near future entitled, The Welfare of the People: Exploring the foundations of the Anglo-American legal tradition.
