Carson calls himself a computational social scientist, and conducts research on transportation and commuting, spatial statistics and geocomputation, and pretty much anything else that interests him. When not conducting research, Carson contributes to many open source software projects, teaches Transportation Geography, Spatial Data Analysis, Quantitative Methods, and Intro and Advanced GIS.
