Developed and led national initiatives geared at institutional and programmatic reforms to support the advancement of diverse educators and non-traditional learners; contributed to the ACCELA Alliance, a community/district/university collaboration to improve teacher quality in high risk districts; authored Connections and Commitments: Reflecting Latino Values and co-authored Through My Own Eyes:Single Mothers and the Cultures of Poverty, both used broadly in universities and social service agencies; awards include the American Educational Research Association/Spencer Foundation Doctoral Fellowship , Title VII Bilingual Fellowship, and Schott Policy Fellowship.
