Academic Interests

Professor Cunningham’s expertise lies in creating dynamic and engaging curriculum that fosters critical thinking, analytical skills, and a deep appreciation for literature. She believes in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel encouraged to express their ideas and explore their creativity. By incorporating interactive teaching methods and incorporating technology, she strives to make learning a stimulating and enriching experience. As an English professor, her aim is to empower students with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel academically and become effective communicators in their personal and professional lives. Professor Cunningham’s motto is: “we can be a BMCC village and help tell stories that are diverse and connect with students on a deep intrinsic level.”

Areas of interest: Journalism, Poetry, Composition, Technical Business Writing, African American Literature, Children’s Literature, and Creative Writing.
